We highly recommend that everyone in our club and classes purchase a Road ID to wear whenever you ride. These IDs will allow your loved ones to be quickly contacted in case of emergency and will provide easy access to important medical information.

Women Riding Well is now an associate for Road ID. Follow our link to place your order and our club will receive a small commission that will be used for our club activities!

Ride Descriptions for Women Riding Well Club Rides

The E Ride- This ride is perfect for our new riders, and for new and old WRW members and guests wanting an easy, short ride. Not a member? Try out our club! Guest riders always welcome to try a WRW Ride. The E Ride is relatively flat but may have minor hills and will last about an hour. The routes will be on paved bike trails and on roads with good bike lanes and slow traffic. This is a “no rider left behind” ride meaning that if someone flats or needs to stop, we will stop as a group and we will go the pace of the slowest rider. The group will stay together throughout the ride. If you have not ridden in a while, please practice on your own until you feel stable and familiar with your bike before joining this group ride. Also make sure your bike and helmet are in good condition.

The M Ride- Great for all moderate club riders and guests, the M Ride is 2-3 hours of pedaling time and could have some moderate hills (2-6% grade). The speed is 12-15mph on the flats. The routes will include paved bike trails, bike lanes and bike-friendly roads. This is a “no rider left alone” ride, so if someone flats, at least one other rider will stay back and help. The M Ride is for women with some riding experience who are training for 40-50 mile rides or half century events. You should be able to ride longer distances and feel confident on your bike before joining this ride. Riders are expected to have reviewed the map and to bring their own cue sheet on the ride. We often string out, so buddy up with others riding your speed so you have riding partners. There is no official ride leader on the M Ride, but the Captain will be your go-to person.
If you have any question about whether the M Ride is good for you, check with Margie.

The D Ride- For our stronger, endurance riders training for a century or a multi-day ride, the D Ride will help get you prepared. The D Ride is open to members only, those who have the fitness and skills for a longer, more challenging ride. The D Ride may include steep hills (12% grade and sometimes more) and roads requiring more advanced bike handling skills. The rides can last 4+ hours, depending on the type of goal ride(s) we’ve chosen and we ride in the range of 15-18mph on the flats. You should be able to eat and drink on the bike and to ride longer distances without stopping. Since the D Ride is geared toward training for challenging events, we each ride our own best speed and distance. We can’t expect others to wait for us if they ride faster nor do we feel obligated to wait for those who are slower. If someone flats, they must be able to fix the flat on their own, although typically someone will stay back and assist them. This ride is for independent, self-reliant cyclists.
To ensure that you have riding partners, buddy up with others who ride your speed. It is your responsibility to bring a cue sheet and to understand the route. There is no official ride leader on this ride so come prepared and ready for a spirited, independent ride. If you have any questions about the D Ride, check with Margie.
