The (E) Ride

Trail washed out last Saturday

Cyclocross?

The E Ride is perfect for newer riders, those returning after a hiatus or those wanting a shorter, gentler ride. Apprehensive about getting on your bicycle again? Try our indoor, open spin (below).
Meet: The closed Circle K on Tramway just south of the County Line Restaurant in the same parking lot as Outpost Ice Arena. Turn into the parking lot from Tramway Blvd onto Tramway Lane.
Time: Arrive at 10:45, ready to ride at 11:00am
Ride: Let’s forget the cue sheets and maps this week as we explore the Sandia Heights neighborhood. We’ll ride north to south on the more flat roads, then ride east a bit to try out some of our famous foothills!
Make sure you are dressed for winter riding (at least 3 layers on top including a wind breaking layer, hat, warm gloves and toe warmers). If you have any questions, call Margie 220-2220.
RSVP: Please RSVP to Margie if you plan to ride. Extra credit for RSVPing early! We’ll send the rider list by email on Friday evening to all riders who RSVPeeeed.

The (M) Ride (map) (cue) ~ 46 miles (or less)

The M Ride is a bit more strenuous than the E ride. There may be some respectable hills on the route and will be 2-3 hours of riding time. This is a good ride for our Cycling Dreams students. Ride at a moderate pace in zone 2 since we’re at the beginning of our training season. All club members (and guests) are welcome on this ride.

Meet: The new, vacant office buildings on 4th St just north of El Pinto Restaurant on the west side of 4th St.
Time: Arrive at 10:45, ready to ride at 11:00am
Ride: We had a request for the ride to San Felipe Casino so here you go! The route is flat, familiar and lovely to you veteran WRWers. Is 46 miles more than you want to bite off? Just turn around early!
There is no ride leader and this is not a no-rider-left-behind ride, so please study the map and bring a cue sheet.
RSVP: Please RSVP to Margie if you plan to ride (please by 6pm Friday?). We’ll send the rider list by email on Friday evening to all riders who RSVPeeeed. (You can still ride Saturday if you miss the 6pm request.)

The E Ride- This ride is perfect for our new riders, those taking the Biking Basics class and for all other WRW members wanting an easier, shorter ride. Not a member? Try out our club! Guest riders always welcome. The E Ride is relatively flat but may have minor hills and will last under 2 hours. The routes will be on bike trails and on roads with good bike lanes and slower traffic. This is a “no rider left behind” ride meaning that if someone flats or needs to stop, we will stop as a group. The group will stay together throughout the ride, although we may string out and be out of visual contact occasionally. Please study the map and bring a cue sheet on the ride. If you have not ridden in a while, please practice on your own and attend our open Saturday spin at Simpatico until you feel stable and familiar with your bike before joining this group ride. Also make sure your bike is in good riding condition.

The M Ride- When the E ride gets a little too E, you might be ready for The M Ride! Great for all moderate club riders, guests and Cycling Dreams students, this ride will be 2+ hours and could have some moderate hills. The routes will include bike trails, bike lanes and bike-friendly access roads. This is a “no rider left alone” ride, so if someone flats, at least one other rider will be expected to stay back and help. This ride is for women with some riding experience. You should be able to ride longer distances and feel confident on your bike before joining this ride. Riders are expected to have reviewed the map and bring a cue sheet on the ride. If you have any question about whether this ride is good for you, check with Margie.

The D Ride- For our experienced and faster riders, The D Ride will get your blood flowing and your heart pumping. These rides are open to members and guests who have the fitness and skills and for Team WRW. This ride may include steep hills and roads requiring more advanced bike handling skills. The rides will last 3+ hours and be a faster paced. Each week we will set a meeting time and place and the riders will decide on a route. This is a “no rider left alone” ride, so if someone flats, at least one other rider will be expected to stay back and help. If you have any questions about whether you can keep up, check with Cliff.
